Project Overview

The project involved providing technical consultancy services to assist 15 municipalities in the southern Gaza Strip (Khan Younis, Rafah, and parts of Deir Al Balah Governorate) in planning and implementing development and infrastructure projects across several key sectors. These sectors included solid waste management, water and wastewater, building development, renewable energy, and road infrastructure.

The primary objective of the consultancy was to enhance the municipalities' capacity to manage and implement vital projects that improved infrastructure, boosted local economies, and supported the sustainable development of the region.

Role of CEP in the project

CEP's role in this project included providing local technical consultancy support, which involved:

Sectoral Development Planning: Assisting in the development and execution of strategic plans for various sectors, with a focus on sustainable and efficient infrastructure solutions.

Project Management and Implementation: Providing technical expertise to ensure the successful implementation of infrastructure projects, especially in the areas of renewable energy, solid waste management, and water/wastewater systems.

Capacity Building: Working with local municipalities to enhance their technical and administrative capabilities to manage development projects efficiently.

Quality Assurance: Ensuring that the projects met the required technical standards and were aligned with best practices in sustainable development.
