Project Overview

The Village and Neighborhood Development Project (VNDP) – Second Cycle, funded by the World Bank, focused on the implementation of micro-projects in 16 villages and neighborhoods across the Gaza Strip. The project employed a Community-Driven Development (CDD) approach, which emphasized community participation in planning, implementing, and managing development projects. The initiative also included capacity building for local communities and government units to strengthen their ability to manage future development activities and ensure sustainable impacts.

Role of CEP in the project

CEP’s role in the VNDP Second Cycle involved supporting the design and implementation of the community development activities, including:

Providing technical support in the implementation of micro-projects, ensuring they aligned with community priorities and objectives.

Facilitating capacity-building programs for local communities and government officials to ensure effective management of the development process.

Monitoring and evaluating the progress of the projects, assessing their impact, and providing recommendations for improvements.

Ensuring that the projects were sustainable, by embedding community ownership and management capabilities to foster long-term benefits.
