Project Overview

This project focused on assessing the technical capabilities and needs of 25 private vendors operating desalination plants. The goal was to determine the necessary upgrades and rehabilitation to ensure these vendors could effectively and professionally supply safe and hygienic drinking water to their communities. The project included assessments of electromechanical systems, capacity building needs, and institutional reviews to support long-term sustainability.

Role of CEP on the Project:

Conducted a comprehensive assessment of the electromechanical rehabilitation needs of the desalination plants to identify required upgrades.

Performed a capacity building assessment to evaluate the operational and technical skills required for the private vendors to improve their service delivery.

Reviewed institutional frameworks to ensure the private vendors had the necessary organizational capacity to manage and operate the plants effectively.

Provided recommendations for upgrading and rehabilitation to enhance the vendors' ability to provide safe and reliable drinking water.
