Project Overview

This project aimed to address the flooding issues during the rainy season in front of Al Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al Balah by capturing and reusing urban storm water. The project included the design and construction of a stormwater collection system, rainwater harvesting systems, and an irrigation system to store and utilize stormwater for agricultural purposes. The project was designed in accordance with GIZ standards to ensure sustainability and efficiency in stormwater management.

Role of CEP in the project

Prepared detailed design drawings for the stormwater collection system on Al Aqsa Hospital Street, including approximately 900 m of UPVC pipes (710 mm diameter), manholes, and gullies.

Developed complete tender documents in compliance with GIZ standards for the installation of the stormwater collection system, rainwater harvesting systems, and agricultural irrigation network.

Designed and supervised the construction of five rainwater harvesting systems and infiltration boreholes in public schools, aimed at recharging the aquifer with harvested stormwater.

Designed a stormwater system to collect and store rainwater for agricultural irrigation, including 10 gullies, 80 m of 400 mm UPVC pipelines, and a storage tank with a 450 m³ capacity.

Supervised the installation of a booster pump, a 3 kWp PV solar system, and other necessary materials to connect the new tank with the existing irrigation network.

Ensured the project adhered to all technical, environmental, and regulatory standards to improve water management and support agricultural activities in the area.
